Build an assembler to make a thing then another assembler to make another thing, build ever more assemblers to make yet another fucking thing all so I can make a car, drive that car into a crowd of bugs, and die. Now I have to build another fucking car. And that's just the tutorial.
I would recommend you start with free play where you can learn and experiment without losing progress. Although you will still spend a lot of time stuck in Factorio's sisyphean gameplay loop figuring out how to efficiently automate research just so you can reduce the time needed to unlock and research the next thing. Time and again I would return to the game with a new idea, succesfully implement it, take a moment to appreciate the small efficiency gains I earned only to then become bored and frustrated all over again until I gave it up entirely. Factorio's gameplay strikes me as an acquired taste that I lack the patience to acquire.
