Metal Gear Solid

A well-paced Zelda-like adventure game with lots of style and an intriguing story that is Hollywood, but in a good way. Despite its age and some frustrating segments, this is still worth playing. It has many clever mechanics and creative boss encounters, although one in particular almost had me throwing my controller against the wall. What sets the story apart from later Metal Gear games is the somewhat politically naive story. By the end, Snake is just beginning to scratch the surface of a deeply corrupt and tyranical United States government.
